A.K. Peters Lawsuit

Pursuit of Truth in Scientific Publishing

Status of the Legal Action

Mobile Robots 2nd edition has been sold for 5 years now with Bruce Seiger listed as an author. Listing Seiger on the cover of Mobile Robotsis false authorship. It is unethical. Seiger made no worthy contribution to the book. He wrote no curriculum chapter. He changed what I wrote, without my permission, and completely decimated Chapter 2. Chapter 2 needs to be returned to its original state and Seiger's name removed from the authorlist. A.K. Peters has railroaded through putting their friend’s name on the cover of one of their best-selling books.

The lawsuit has been in progress for 5 years. In May, 2003, the case went to trial. AKP won on a technicality. I am appealing the decision. However, in the course of the proceedings, a settlement was reached with Jones and Seiger. The settlement agreement states that Jones, Seiger and Flynn agree that Seiger is not an author of Mobile Robots 2nd edition but should instead receive an acknowledgement, as he did in the first edition.

A.K. Peters still refuses to remove Seiger from the authorlist of Mobile Robots 2nd edition . They continue to sell the book with blatant false authorship.

I have been silent for the past 5 years, choosing to let the legal system meet out justice. The discovery phase of the trial brought out emails, letters and contracts circulated between Jones, Seiger and A.K. Peters, of which I was not aware at the time. However, now that the trial is over and the appeal in, all of these documents are in the public record. I have put them up on this web site so the public can see the truth.
